Our Project

The „Mosaik-Treff“ is a project developed and structured by KOMCIWAN e.V. which aims for the social integration of young refugees, mostly from Iraq and Syria, in Bremen. The core idea is to bring young people with migrant background, who were born here, and young fugitives, with or without a Kurdish cultural background, together. The young ones born here can act as an integrative peer group and can help with orientation in the federal state of Bremen.
The project has the following objectives:

  • The creation of appropriate conditions for young refugees to support their initial orientation in Bremen, to increase their self-confidence and their social integration.
  • Strengthening and using the specific competences (eg knowledge of Kurdish, own experiences with migration and integration) of the local Kurdish youth and thereby promoting their voluntary commitment to new immigrants.
  • Although the project is aimed at kurdish refugees primarly, the Mosaik-Treff is pen for any kind of migration background in order to make intercultural interaction possible.

To fulfill these goals, the project rented and designed rooms, which now serve as an open meeting place for fugitives and where issues of daily life in Bremen can be addressed and workshops can be carried out. In addition the projects staff organizes educational activities regularly, like archery, participation in summer camps, vehicle constructions, climbing and similar activities.
